TEED-4045: Administration of Computer Laboratories

For the class TEED:4045 Administration of Computer Laboratories we learned the many roles a technology coordinator is to cover while working for an educational institution. While we learned about the roles and expectations of a technology coordinator it also helped us shape our belief and views on technology, leading to the making of our very own Educational Technology Statement where we state our philosophy with the use and incorporation of technology in our classrooms. As a teacher it is no doubt that technology is an essential tool that has slowly incorporated itself into our daily life, that is why as teachers we should use this tool in our favor rather than against it. Enhancing our classroom by incorporating technology is not the equivalent of having our students on their phones all the time, but rather providing stimulant learning experiences. Using eye catching presentations or educational games projected on an e-board to review class material is an example of this. Having access to printers to handout printed material for your students is also another technological accommodation that is helpful for both teachers and students. Times are changing and as teachers we are to accommodate to the needs of our students, technology allows us to provide a innovative way to teach our students, while reducing both students and teachers the risk of burnout for a smoother learning experience.
