INGL-3231: Advanced Composition - An In-Depth Exploration

INGL-3231-M91: Advanced Composition is a dynamic and intellectually stimulating class that places a significant emphasis on the art and craft of writing. From the very first day, students are immersed in a rich learning environment where they are introduced to a wide array of writing techniques and research methodologies. These foundational skills are designed to enhance our ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and engage with complex topics through written expression.

Throughout the course, we have explored various forms of writing, ranging from analytical essays to creative pieces, each designed to sharpen our skills and broaden our understanding of different audiences and purposes. As the semester progresses, we are tasked with developing a comprehensive research paper that reflects our interests and applies the skills we have acquired. This culminating project serves not only as a demonstration of our writing prowess but also as an opportunity to delve into a subject that resonates with us personally.

For my research paper, I have chosen to focus on the topic of autism, specifically examining the diagnosis process for women. This is an area of significant importance and relevance, particularly given the prevailing trends in autism diagnosis. It is widely recognized that boys are diagnosed with autism at a much higher rate than girls, leading to a disparity that warrants further investigation. The reasons behind this phenomenon are multifaceted and complex, rooted in both biological and sociocultural factors.

One of the key issues I aim to address in my research is how girls often exhibit symptoms of autism in ways that differ from their male counterparts. Through this exploration, I aspire to contribute to the ongoing conversation about autism and advocate for changes that will improve the lives of countless individuals who may be affected by these diagnostic disparities.
